Crystal Eye EDU is a fully managed cybersecurity system designed for Australian schools, universities and TAFEs. The same platform trusted by governments and Fortune 500 companies — simplified, supported, and priced for education.

The reality in schools
Are you the "IT person" — just because you can reset a password?
You're teaching maths or science. You're rebooting printers, cleaning viruses, troubleshooting Wi-Fi, and being blamed for every dropout. It's too much.
Meanwhile, the education sector is one of the most targeted industries in Australia for cyberattack. Schools hold sensitive student records, financial data, and a network of devices that ransomware operators love. A single incident can shut down teaching for days.
Crystal Eye EDU takes the whole problem off your plate — without the price tag of a full-time security team.
You just need a system that works — without babysitting it. Crystal Eye EDU is your invisible IT assistant.
Built for educators, not security engineers
What's included
Six layers of protection. One simple subscription.
Crystal Eye EDU bundles the security appliance, the monitoring, the advisory work, the staff training and the incident response into a single managed service. You don't choose modules. You don't run audits. You don't get called at 2am.
01 / Network protection
Plug-and-forget appliance
Crystal Eye XDR · on-site
An Australian-made firewall and threat detection device installed on your school network. It filters dodgy websites, blocks malware and ransomware, and protects every staff and student device. You don't configure anything.
02 / 24/7 monitoring
Watched by real experts
Managed Detection & Response
Red Piranha's security operations centre watches your network day and night. If something dodgy happens, their team deals with it. No late-night calls. No panicked emails.
03 / Virtual CISO
Your own security officer
eCISO advisory · monthly
You don't have to write policies, run risk assessments or prepare for audits — Essential 8, ISO 27001, cyber insurance. We do that. You're assigned a dedicated advisor who keeps the school compliant.
04 / Staff training
Awareness training, sorted
50 staff licences included
Up to 50 staff get access to bite-sized online cybersecurity training. Phishing simulations, password hygiene, the lot. It reduces support tickets and stops "why is there a virus on my laptop" moments before they happen.
05 / Incident response
We jump in if something happens
Expert responders on call
If a breach attempt does land — and in education, they do — you are not alone. Expert responders are on call with playbooks ready. They contain it, recover it, and tell you exactly what happened in plain English.
06 / Dark web monitoring
We watch the places you can't
Credential & domain monitoring
We scan the dark web for leaked staff and student credentials, exposed domains, and chatter about your school. We tell you. You don't find out from the newspaper.
Why this works for schools
Enterprise-grade protection, without the enterprise overhead.
01
Sovereign Australian platform
Crystal Eye is built and supported in Australia by Red Piranha. Your school's data, threat intelligence and incident handling stay onshore — important for student privacy, important for procurement.
02
Education-tuned, not enterprise-recycled
The same platform used by governments and Fortune 500s — but with policies, reporting, and pricing designed for the realities of a school: BYOD devices, student accounts, holiday quiet periods and tight budgets.
03
Fully managed. You don't lift a finger.
You don't need a cybersecurity expert on staff. The appliance, the monitoring, the training, the audits and the incident response are all included and looked after by people who do this every day.
04
Priced for a school budget
One monthly subscription replaces a patchwork of antivirus, firewall, email-filter, training and consulting contracts. It's the same line item every term — and it's smaller than what you're spending now.
Why now
Education is one of the most attacked sectors — and the least resourced.
#1
Targeted sector
Education is consistently ranked among the most-attacked industries globally. Schools hold rich personal data and run thousands of unmanaged devices — a combination ransomware operators actively seek out.
1in3
Phishing exposure
Staff phishing is the single most common entry point. Even one click can compromise the school's mail, finance and timetabling systems. Training plus filtering reduces this risk by an order of magnitude.
0
Full-time security staff
Most Australian schools have zero dedicated cybersecurity personnel. Crystal Eye EDU gives you the equivalent of a full security team — without the headcount.
How it works
From first call to full protection — without the stress.
We set the whole thing up for you. There's no procurement maze, no integrator to chase, no late nights cutting over the network. Most schools are fully protected within a fortnight.
01
Free walkthrough
A 30-minute conversation about your school — size, sites, devices, current setup. No sales script, no obligation. You'll leave with a clear picture of what you actually need and what's overkill.
02
We size and quote
We recommend the right Crystal Eye appliance and service level for your network — and give you a fixed monthly price. No per-device gotchas, no surprise add-ons later.
03
Install and onboard
We ship and configure the appliance, plug it into your network, enrol your staff in awareness training, and turn on dark web monitoring for your domains. Most installs are completed in a single afternoon.
04
Ongoing, managed
24/7 monitoring, monthly eCISO check-ins, quarterly reporting for your board or department, and a real human at the other end of the phone if anything ever happens.
Common questions
Things schools actually ask us.
Do we need a dedicated IT person to use this?
No. Crystal Eye EDU is fully managed — we handle the appliance, the monitoring, the policies and the response. Schools without an IT team are exactly who this is built for. If you do have an IT lead, they get to stop firefighting and focus on teaching and learning.
Will this replace our antivirus and firewall?
In most cases, yes. The Crystal Eye appliance is a unified threat management device — firewall, intrusion prevention, malware and ransomware blocking, content filtering, VPN and threat detection in one. For many schools it consolidates three or four existing subscriptions into a single line item.
What about student privacy and data sovereignty?
Crystal Eye is built and operated in Australia by Red Piranha. Network telemetry, security logs and incident handling all stay onshore. We can provide documentation suitable for your privacy impact assessment and any state or department compliance requirements.
Does it help us meet Essential 8 or cyber insurance requirements?
Yes. Your assigned eCISO works with you on Essential 8 maturity, documentation for ISO 27001-aligned controls, and the evidence cyber insurers ask for at renewal. Most schools see their insurance position improve within a single renewal cycle.
What happens if we actually get attacked?
Red Piranha's security operations centre detects and contains the incident, often before anyone in the school notices. You get a real human on the phone, a clear incident report, and help with any notification obligations. You don't have to manage the response — that's the whole point of the service.
Is this only for big schools?
No. Crystal Eye EDU is built for institutions of every size — from small independent schools and child care centres up to multi-campus colleges, TAFEs and universities. We size the appliance and service level to your actual network, not the other way around.
